“I’m happy that my thoughts and insights… help folks. Really, that’s what teaching is all about…being there and encouraging students and perhaps changing their attitudes. This tends to be forgotten in all the presentations, articles, methods, etc. It is a critical thing especially for a culture like Japan that really has a lot of negative thought and also the highest rate of suicide in the world.”

Teach in Japan: Business English Classes
Teaching business English can be rewarding; not only monetarily, but the students are often motivated, interesting (or just interesting!). Plus if you are interested in working in a business environment–for a company, teaching business classes can provide you with valuable leads. Teachers often end up networking through these business contacts they got from teaching English.

ALC Education Inc.
Has offices in Kansai and Kanto and teaches business classes at companies in both areas as well as the Tokai region of Japan (Nagoya), in Shizuoka, and other areas.
I have spoken with a few teachers about ALC, and they enjoyed there time teaching there. I have in fact, applied for part-time work with them. I feel they are a good school to teach for.
The ALC Demo Lesson
Their interview is difficult. They may try to throw you off by suggesting a certain way to teach, then if you do that, they will ask you why you did that. So stick to your guns, and teach as you usually would. They may also throw you off by telling you, that you will teach intermediate students, then use actors who pretend to be beginners.

Tell us about your Favorite English School or Institution in Japan!
Hi, I`m Dave Johnson and I would like to know about your favorite English schools, universities, colleges or other institutions that teach English in Japan. I want to thank Kevin for giving me the opportunity to gather more information about which schools you think are the best in Japan.
People should know! And people should be able to avoid the bad schools and teach in Japan at one of the good ones. You can add your favorite school or read about the schools others have added by clicking on the previous link.
The Japanese Education System
Japan and its standardized test-based education system
If you are going to teach in Japan, to see some positives in Japanese education, one need look no further than the local kindergarten or the local elementary school. For everything other than English education, they are doing a good to great job of educating the children of Japan. Classes are creative, teachers are caring, on the whole, and students are happy and learning.
Were the whole education system to be like this from kindergarten to the end of university, the Japanese people would be happier, healthier and more productive, both in GDP and . creative terms.
The big school chains here, are like any large company you will work for back home. They are big and somewhat impersonal. You will be one of many personnel just like you would be back home.
Some find it feels lonely and they feel like a number at a large English school. I guess it depends on the person.
I enjoyed my colleagues for the most part. A few, I wish their mother had taken the pill.
But let`s not talk about Frank…..Ooops, now I`ve published his name!
